Walleye Question

Fished BOQ HAY BAY (Thompsons and Shermans) same time last year and my father and I caught 60 walleye in 2 days. This year fished 3 different days August 23, 24, and 26th and caught 0 walleye. By previous posts by this year and last year something has changed dramitically. Is it the fish are IN THE BAY and aren't biting because of water temperature or weather or is it that the fish have never migrated to the BAY this year??

Anyone???

i dont really know what to say, cept things have been tough.

But the fishfinder sure marked TONS of fish!

I would have a look at the temp and pressure changes to see what's been happening to the walleyes in BOQ.

The weather has been UNSTABLE to say the least and I would attibrute the poor fishing to the weather.

I know some other fishers of BOQ (from Pa) didn't do as well as in the past, as the weather never settled down.

Other fishers from Pa had the best fishing since 82 - Go Figure

The fish are there ... and there are lots of fish in the slot size.

Look at the water -- Look at the zebra mussels -- what do you see?

There may be an answer in those replies.

Well..headed up to the Bay tomorrow for a couple of days..first trip in about 10 years...hope things have settled down a bit....will post my results on Sunday when i return.

Mike i'm sorry to hear the walleye fishing didn't work out for you even with the suggestions I gave you. The weather has changed dramatically from day to day and it was not nearly as warm as past years. High winds were the ticket most days making suttle presentation difficult. However all it takes is being in the right area when they are on the bite.
I was out 4 days before you arrived and could not believe the number of fish I marked. I did manage three that night. The fish are here they just hide real goo......Larry

Thanks for the advice Larry

My dad even caught a catfish on the uzick's

Still had a great time, caught some pike and bass on the trip

We still plan on coming next year hopefully the walleye will be hitting better with hotter temperatures and less wind!!

First, I would love to have the bay in my backyard. We drive six hours from Pa. Lasy year in mid August we caught 44 walleyes from 19-26 inches in two days with crank baits during the day. This year same time we caught 14 from 18 - 27 inches during the night. This was during the new moon or dark of the moon (best time to fish). The difference was the continuous cold fronts this year. During May, June, and July Lake Oneida, NY was great for walleyes. During August the cold fronts and the gizzard shad shut down the bite. The Bay of Quinte has plenty of walleyes and some of the largest you will fine anywhere. I will keep on coming to try to catch that 15 pound one. Fish On!
