Help selecting a down rigger

I am interested in buying a down rigger to better target inland lakers and rainbow. Looking for inexpensive but will do the job, manual is fine. Any thoughts on what might do the trick?

they all do the trick buddy........ i guess boom leingth is something to think about, this all depends on what kind of boat your mounting the rigger too! bigger boat means a bigger boom expessally if you are gonna use two of them it helps you get the balls further apart if you are just going with one its not as importiant but you dont wanna be hanging off the back to opperate it . cannon seems to make a pretty good manual rigger. good luck

I have the bottom of the line Scotty and use a 4lb ball with my 16.5 ft tinny for lakers and have had pretty good success on the big water with it for steel and chinnies. It comes with 100 ft of cable. You would need a rod holder to with it. I use a Tite-lok with the c-clamp. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done. Mitch

I was in at The Reel Thing in Wellington on the weekend. He has a show demo Scotty manual for $95.00. That a good price those things are like $250 to $300 new.
