we drew a blank.....hunt an area with guaranteed 11 was the # for a cow tag and got absolutley nothing with 9 guys. This is a damn joke. This tag allottment bullshit the ministry has needs to change. Someone explain to me how ya cant draw a tag with 9 guys!!!!. Yet there will be camps around us with 2 or 3 individually drawn tags. We try to do the right thing by using the group size choice cause really who needs that many tags?? Sorry for venting but this is ministry BULLSHIT at its finest!!!

Sorry to hear about your lottery draw Jubes.
We are but a group of 4 and we drew a bull tag,(area 5).
Something needs to change, or hunters will walk.
Good luck on the hunt?????

That does suck with 9 guys not getting a tag. But like you said, the number was 11 for a guarantee. I can only hope and trust the ministry is evaluating each area carefully and alloting tags accordingly to ensure a healthy population.
We used to hunt WMU 50 years ago and got a tag quite often with four of us. In the mid-late 90's the ticks hit the moose really hard. We found a few dead ones and heard horror stories of dead moose everywhere from the locals. The guaranteed hunters went from 3-4 up to 8-10 after that. They knew the population went way down and the ministry adjusted accordingly.

With that said, we checked the different areas for available tags and started hunting a completely different area. We now drive 22 hours non-stop to get there.
We got both a cow and a bull tag between four of us. They are both archery tags.
Come on September 23rd!!!

Blue pickeral where do ya hunt in area 5......hunted up there for years but the old gang broke apart for stupid reasons. We hunted the area about half way between Vermillion Bay and Perrault Falls. Could give ya some area's to try if ya like. The area I refer to was area 61. Sad when 9 guys and you can't draw a tag!! To far south, god how I enjoyed those trips to north western ont. Think I may assemble another group in the coming year but will probably hunt the Ignace - Dryden area. Last I hunted area 5 the deer were starting to take over. We hunted the 3 rd week last time I was up and you had to be careful going anywhere in the dark on the roads as we hit the deer rut bang on. Bucks were chasin does everywhere. We however always got our moose. Good luck to all..........I will just have to read your moose hunting stories with great envy.

Jukes Walleye.
As you probably already know, many years ago when forestry and logging
Were big concerns in northwestern Ontario, logging companies numbered
Logging camps, hence your area camp 61.
Where l have spent most of the more than 40 years of moose hunting
Has been in the camp 1 area, which is straight north of Dryden all along
The shores of Lac Seul. Not skunked once, but 1/2" short of that elusive
60".
Good luck (sorry about misspelling your name).

We got a bull and cow tag for area 15b. Going opening week rifle season.
My camp in area 61 got a bull tag with 9 people.

We may be looking for 1 more for our trip to 15b if anyone is interested.

We were lucky enough to draw a cow tag for area 63a. It Only took 14 pool A's to do so. Keeping our fingers crossed. Hunt could have been over with in the first hour last year.
Good luck to all.
Jason
