Need a Fall Fishing Buddy?

I have fished the BoQ for more than 10 years. However, I have never fished there during the fall season. I don't own my own boat and feel that a 14' rental is not appropriate for the conditions at that time of year.

Is anyone looking for a fishing buddy for a weekend? I'd bring the brewski's and pay my share of the gas. If anyone is interested, just reply to this message and I'll get in touch with you.

I've never fished BOQ but I have fished for walleye elsewhere and love to catch and eat them. I have a portable fish finder and suitable tackle but I don't have a boat. I noticed one of the marinas in the area rents 18' boats. Would that be big enough in your opinion? If so, perhaps we can set something up. I've never fished the BoQ in the fall. I heard it can get pretty rough at that time of year. I'm not sure if an 18 footer is sufficient. What size motor does is come with?

I'd be interested in going near the end of October. I usually stay at Bay View. I'm not even sure if they're still open (the owners go to Florida during the winter).

Let's put some feelers out on the boat issue. If it's OK, we can set things up. Would it be just the two of us?

I fished the bay in the fall out of 16 ft Tracker deep V and a 17ft Legend Sportfish. The bay can get rough but you can still fish out of these boat. The run out and in can be slow but it is worth. There were times when we didn't go out but that ways with 40+ km/hr winds. Typically, I would stay out in 30 km/hr winds or less.

A 18 footer should be good enough. Make sure you wear your life jacket or invest in a floater suit. Water resistant, warm and you will float should the unthinkable happen.
