Ok time is getting short but spent another day chasing the salmon on the grand slam Not sure how much longer the salmon will be around but so far so good and we made the best of the day and managed to put a few fish in the boat.
Today Al and myself took the day off as far as fighting fish but we were joined by two friends and had a great day telling stories, and chasing fish....... Attending todays fun was Pete Straton AKA Mr Walleye... and Jason AKA walleye Wizzard we have been wanting to get together with these two guys and today was the day. also i should make a mention that today was Petes birthday so it was great to spend the day with him out on the grand slam....
There seemed to be a short window today but we did manage to boat about 10 fish or so and a few in the 20 plus range. most came either on the meat rigs or spin doctor and flys

here is a picture of the birthday boy fighting a king

Well I knew  I was in for a great day when I got a PM from Grizz that started off "hey peckerhead". Lol. He gave me some directions and said even Ray Charles could find this place! Lol
So here  I am standing on a dock with my thumb out when I see this big professional looking boat pulling up with a scruffy looking guy in the back. After a few hand shakes and introductions we were on our way.
It looked like bass pro shop on board and there was rods and reels ever where you turn. I got a little worried when Al came out with a tempature probe but quickly relaxed when I seen him hooking it on a downrigger. Lol
Well boys let me tell you...... These guys know how to fish.
Grizz is busy setting rods and Als setting up his plan for attack.
It wasn't long and reels were screaming and fish were flopping. In no time we had some fish of a lifetime in our hands.
It was a pleasure to meet Pete "Mr Walleye" and share this adventure with him on his 45th birthday !
Happy Birthday !!!!!!

A big thank you goes out to Al and Grizzly for a awesome day of fishing aboard the Grand Slam.
I owe you guys a great day on the water.
Jason

Trophy Hunter I would love to try my hand with some muskies. If you ever find your self looking for a fishing partner I would be glad to join you.

It was great to get out on the big lake with Pete & Jason. The fishing was good but the 6 hours of fishing and hunting stories was the best part of the day.

Happy Birthday Pete.

Jason with a nice mature.

More story telling around the fish cleaning station.

Grizz is not only developing well as a first mate & rigger man but a hell of a fish cleaner also.
He has spent too much time on the Grand Slam this summer that the mushrooms are growing in his boat.

Thanks guys for a great day
Al

Grand Slammers,
How do you clean your salmon?
Filets? Do you cut the skin off too?
Thanks
Charlie

pretty sad when yer boat is growin mushrooms lmao. too funny eh lol / Charlie more than a few ways to skin a fish as im sure you know lol. I guess it all depends on how you plan to cook them up . Steakes are a good way if you want a BBQ or fish on a ceder plank......fellets with the skin on if yer gonna smoke them.... skin off if you want to bake them up. there really is no real rule of thumb, pretty much its a personol preferance thry every way til you find how you like them best then you just run with it lol
