Heading out to the bonnet on Friday

Hey Guys,

Any last minute tips? I'm heading out tomorrow, not too early but I'd like to spend the afternoon and early evening out there.

go wherever AL (Trannyman) suggests, LOL. Ok since Al said Grizz was coming along nicely, maybe our third can add a little something. Use MC Rockets and stay out of lawn chairs.

I heard that they are still getting some fish at the Bonnet. keep an eye on the weather.

If I was going out for big kings it would be directly out from Wellington in 105 fow. Depending on water temp after lowering the rigger with probe, I would probably start trolling west towards McFaul Shoal. If I got 50 degrees at 50' I would troll towards West Point.

Grizz and I will try to get out a few evenings next week it will be the last week of the GOSD.
We'll be hawg hunting. :wink:

WE were out on Thursday we had a good day, but lost one which would have made it great. Just east of the elbow using a big ernie called desert storm a big salmon ripped off 400ft. in no time flat. The fellow I had with me did nothing wrong but after a good 10 minutes the salmon surfaced and lure just let go. Not ever fished for salmon before he was still happy stating I've heard how strong they were but never would have believed they were like that. We came in with four salmon nothing big, but we did catch a real nice brown trout. They are still there lots of big hooks but we only had one that really got us excited.

Thanks for the report Bill, too bad you didn't get the big one.

I have to go to Whitby tonight to do some work on Don's boat, Have to get it ready for the last KOTL tournament at St. Catharines. Hope to get finished before mid-night and give it one last shot at Whitby, Will be back home for Sunday out of Wellington. Got to be a couple big ones laying out front of Wellington.

We ended up getting 3 out of the 5 we hooked. The 2 that got away were small. My daughter got the "big one" at 4.75 lbs ish. We got that one in front of wellington. It was hooked bad we had no choice but to keep it. I need to work on my Salmon fileting skills. It looks like I used a chain saw.

We got three shakers, not to bad. Had some battery issues but once that was solved we weren't even rigged before the rod started acting funny.

As far as filleting, these three are getting headed, and gutted. Then bbq'ed.

Silver Fox got 3 just over 20lbs all betwen the hook and the elbow today (Saturday) two of them were on at the same time. Know one else from our camp went out a mistake on our part, but getting boat cleaned up to go to the Blues Festival next Wednesday.

Got back from a morning fish in Whitby yesterday about 3 pm. Grizz & I hit the water about 4 for an evening fish.
No Biggies but about a dozen shakers.
