Pin the board, don't let it slide down the line this way you should be bale to keep it planning as you reel the walleye in. You need a nice steady retrieve with now rod pumping to keep the board on a straight trajectory towards the boat. Once you get within a rod length of the boat you can lift the board out of the water by raising the rod tip and then remove the board from the line. Then fight the fish the rest of the way to the boat. Now keep in mind you need your boat moving forward this whole time to keep everything under tension.
One last tip, you may need to replace the clips on the boards you purchased, as they may be designed to release from the line and slide.
