Hey gang, last Saturday was my first time on the BOQ, what a nice day! I left Ottawa at 7am and made it to Glenora ferry for about 10am and fished until 7pm. My first time on the bay wasn't at all what I had hoped for  !! Probably because I wasn't to sure where to go. I fished mostly West of the ferry in waters ranging from 15 to 30ft trolling crankbaits. All I managed to catch was two pretty big sheapheads and a nice picture of the sunset!

Great to hear that you caught something and sounds like you had a good time.

You were certainly not fishing Quinte during any of its prime times. Make sure to give it a second chance in a month or so and also again in the spring which are easy times to pull fish.

I know I will catch flack for this, and although certainly not necessary, a guide or charter will drastically increase the learning curve on quinte. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks again for visiting our beautiful bay and make sure to come back during the prime times.

Scott

Don't think it matters where you go, but you may be 3 or 4 hours late  Should be on the water at 6 or 7, not at home!!! :P :P

Don't give up keep trying bud!!!

Scott, you shouldn't catch any flack for that statement. Going with a guide or charter captain will definitely cut the learning curve. When we started salmon fishing way back when, we were struggling at consistency so we booked a couple charters with some guys up west. We learned a lot to get us started in the right direction. From then on it was meticulous record keeping that kept us on track.
Posting boards like Quinte Fishing.com will really help in the learning process.
The guys are here to help.

Later
Al
