Went to fish on Saturday with my Dad and we tried the weed edges to see if the fish were still there - well after a couple of hours in and around Mallory Bay, we couldn't raise anything but a couple of perch.

The smart money appeared to trolling in Long Reach (based on the charters working that area), so we got out the trolling rods and planer boards and headed for Thompsons Pt. Got the lines in the water with some small cranks testing the upper portion of the water column. The on-board timer rang after25 minutes and it was lure changing time. Loaded the rods with several Reef Runners and remembering what G2 had said about the distance behind the board, we set off.

As we were trolling, the GPS would suddenly disappear and then re-appear perhap five or ten minutes later ?????? Did anyone else experience any GPS troubles on Saturday during the mid day????

We had trolled for about five minutes and the reel screamed - :"Fish ON!!!!!!" RedcapBert took the rod and after releasing the planer board, he guided the fish into the waiting net. He was really happy to get one on a crankbait. Largest fish he's seen since the openeing weekend. He's caught many fish this summer, but nothing in the 4.5 lb range.

Sunday, we ( my Dad, my wife and myself ) hit the water for a couple hours. We know where they are and what they're taking!!!! RIGHT

After a couple hours and three or four lure changes, we decided to head for shore. Powered the boat up to a plane and then the lower unit rose to put us off the plane. Something's wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lower unit was at the top of its range and the steering wasn't working. OH OH!!!!!! Thanks to the Kicker motor, we were able to motor slowly to the Shermans Pt launch where our good friend BayBoy was able to meet us and help me get my truck and boat trailer. Got the boat out and back to the campground.

A big Thanks to BayBoy for his efforts - really appreciated it Joe.

Monday, I checked the fuses and heard the sound of the hydralic pump struggling - turned the power off - head for the shop when the week begins.

" Superdad " is now in the shop and will be repaired and winterized and will be stored shortly after Thanksgiving. Laker John and I will use his boat and ply the waters until ice up.

Stay tuned.

David aka Superdad

Sorry to hear about the engine troubles. Hopefully not too costly to repair. Great job on the fish
