Ramp at the Ferry

Is the ramp at the ferry a good place to put a boat in? I usually dock in Picton, but there is not much parking there. Are there better alternatives ?

Great steel grated ramp. Little/no parking. Don't go too deep , the water is low and the ramp falls off at the end.

ya tell me about iti got stuck there 2 weeks ago my trailer fell off the end and it drops off 1ft and my trailer got hung up and i got stuck,thank god for a couple of bass fisherman in a tournament took the time to help me out.there is still alot of good guys out there helping each other out,i know i will return the favour some day.

There are only 3 or 4 spots to park a trailer, I could see those filling up quickly on the weekends.

Thanks for the responses. I was curious how the ramps in the area are when the big fish start coming in. I would imagine due to the little parking at the ramps, that they are pretty much first come first serve. I usually dock in Picton, but even now, you pretty much have to be there early enough to get a parking spot by the launch. not sure if they allow you to park in the lot across the street or on the side of the road there.

Try McFarland conservation area. Lots of parking but the ramp is a little steep. Can get slippery when it's wet. If you have 4 wheel drive, no problem at all. I believe they take the docks out near the end of October, or early November, but you can still launch.

its too bad there isnt a good ramp between bath and glenora. it can be hell crossin the gap and it would save a run to prinyers from glenora or picton... maybe we should all donate to adolphustown park and they can update their ramp...

Funny coincidence, Matt and I were the two that helped you out Kevin. And yes that was a quick and nasty drop that basically ate your trailer, others be warned. Any ways we wondered how did you make out that day, you deserved to at least hook into a big one. Also it was no big deal to help out, would hate to have seen a fellow angler stranded like that, a little help from the shore anglers would have been nice.

thanks again Ben,i didnt make out to well but had fun getting out and trying,it was a little early for the big fish i beleave but will soon be back at it this week,will go back to launching at deseronto or picton.take care

How far of a run is it from Deseronto to the ferry? is it doable even in rough water and is the ramp good there?

Desronto to the Ferry would be approx 8 miles - IMHO

Easy to to when the winds are right, it's a LONG way back into a north / northwest wind......

Its $8 to launch and park. Its an ok concrete launch and no problem with depth. The dock to tye off on is high maybe due to water level, best thing I like is that your right in a prime walleye area

and if the walleye are off your guaranteed to get Bass on the way back in .....

what time do they close the glenora marina ramp?

i know it has never been in use in December?

Is there a ramp at Prinyer's Cove Marina or is Picton the best bet? Never fished the soft water on the bay yet and just trying to figure out a plan for the weekend.....
