Well guys, I must say there was no banging them at the Bonnet today. The water didn't cool down as much as I expected. It was about 59 F when we started. The bait fish were glued to bottom and there were a few fish around them but very few. Not like 3 weeks ago.
For those spoon chuckers, the salmon where jumping at the pier heads when we left the Wellington channel this morning. When we came in there were 2 jumping and porposing in the harbour.
Todays Report. - The team was made up of Dave Aston (Sunrise Cottages), Brian (MuskieWannabie), Big Gene, and the Captain.
Tried the north side first and marked absolutely nothing. Rolled around to the south side and of coarse Gene scrapes one off the bottom with some ugly 900 Runner.
It was descent fish at 30 inches and pushing 11 pounds.
Brian picked this eye up on a TD-11 siver/blue, on a 2 colour core and it was very close to bottom. About 7 lbs 2 ounces.
It was a great day to be on the water, a little cool to start but warmed up by 10.
Released the bigger eye and kept the small one for the mother-in-law.
My buddy Bear, helping me clean the eye.
That maybe it for the Bonnet this year. Quinte on Saturday and maybe Sunday.
May be Athol Bay on Sunday for browns and eyes, if the weather is nice.
Later
Al
P.S. Hey guys please remember to vote.
