we've waited all week for today. Blue Skies, low wind and we know the fish are there. Al, Brian (muskiewannabie) Dave (dave-at-sunrise) and myself head out to the promised land.
Leave the harbour around 6:30 and start to setup shortly after 7.
we're the first ones out, water temp is around 58-60 , we're fishing 40 ft of water and all is right with the world except we're not marking anything, notta, zilch, zero, blank. we round the west corner and I watch a rod whip back and then nothing, but I decide to check it just in case, nope must have been bottom, no just a sec, yup fish on and end up landing a nice 11lber on a 900 reef runner out on three colours of core, yes I was fishing very deep.

after a few pics, it's returned. we continue marking a few fish but it's evident they've moved on and now we're on the search. Maybe a hour later another hit but it's a knockoff before we can get it to the boat. hours go by and finally another hit, Brian brings in the most golden coloured eye I have ever seen, it is flouresant gold everywhere, even the belly was solid gold.

This one is kept, around 8lbs, wasn't going to make it so it's staying with us.

The rest of the day we are zero'd out, marks are few and far between. However we did bide our time with some smoked salmon with cheese and crackers, roast beef sandwiches. And tons of laughter and good times. Not the best day for numbers, but at least came away with some action.

Gentlemen it was a pleasure to fish with you guys today and nice to have made a couple of new friends. I look forward to the next time.

Thinking the Bonnet may be near it's end, BOQ here we come!

Too Funny, I'm sure Brian, Dave or Al can add some pic's from their cameras.

Great report.

I am heading down with a buddy this Sunday for the first trip of the fall to fish the Bay or the Big Lake with Sheldon. Hopefully we will catch a fish or two, but main goal is to pick up a few tips and tricks to use later this fall on the bay.

Great job again.

Thanks for the day on the water guys. It was great to get out and learn a few new things and see a couple nice fish in the boat! I didn't have too many different pics but here's a good one of Al.

Thanks again and I'm sure we'll see each other ou on the bay in the next month or so.

No wonder Al lost this fish...., rippped the hook right out of its mouth! Absolutely great day, thanks brothers. What Gene failed to mention was every time we were just over the "glory hole", Gene made sure we did a line check and by the time the lines were back in we were 2 miles past the hole. Couldn't resist brother. Gene and Al's choice of lures were the ones that produced. Mine sucked!
