Quinte Fishing

Do you guys think big bay is worth a shot this weekend? It seems the bonnet has cooled off and the ferry isn't producing either. im still leaning towards the bonnet. If there is no walleye maybe look for some browns.

I will be out in Big Bay tomorrow and will report. I usually fish Point Anne, Trident and Big Island shore.

I was out in Picton tonight from Ferry to cement plant and nothing. Talked to a few others and nothing either.

The weeds are dying off so i would imagine trolling along in the deeper water adjacent the weed beds might hold some fish. Water temp in Picton was 16-17 C

Used to fish big bay alot. I haven't really fished much this time of year so im a bit lost. I may end up at the bonnet.

I checked the surface temp charts again last night and the water cooled more at the Bonnet. Might be better today but those south westerlies will bring the hot water back in for sunday. (Maybe)

rtkman, there is a little bar about a mile south of Wellington, called the Carrying Place shoal. I have taken some nice eyes off that. Also Wicked Bank (Salmon Pt. bar) and the south shore of Athol Bay. We have to fish Quinte today but undecided about Quinte on Sunday. I imagine Grizz, Gene or I will post a report this evening about Quinte. If you don't see a report means we had a bad day.

Thanks for the info Al. I know there isn't likely to be anything big in the bay but its been a while since I fished point anne. If my son ever wakes up we'll make a firm decision here. I'll let you guys know how we make out. I'll be on 71 if anyone is on.

On big bay now. No fish yet lol. On 71the if anyone is around.

I got nothing today ! 2 of us went out, started at Trident Point, then over to Big Island, back to Point Anne, Bay Bridge then Petes Point.... nothing, there were quite a few boats out under the bay bridge, i know this time of year there is usually Walleye there and large perch, but didn't see anything come up.

hope someone is catching something out there in the bay somewhere. Since the wind last week, i have heard of nothing being caught. I am thinking to heading out to Sturgeon Lake tomorrow or Scugog until BOQ heats up. Looks like they are still getting them deep by the Gap.

Thinkin the same thing about the Kawarthas. Let me know how you make out if you go to Scugog. Gonna try it next weekend for Muskie.

We actuallydidn't came across a wounded goose on the west end of big bay. I hate to see them shot but suffering and wasted. It wasnt injured enough to catch. We didn't get anything but perch. It'll heat up soon I'm sure. It was a nice day on the water with my son anyways.

Walleye nine , We were up at Balsam last weekend for a Muskies Canada outing , 70 guy's fished for 2 day's , the count was 27 fish caught , 1 Tiger 53 in and the winner of the Swan Trophy was a young lad 12 years old with a 51" , it was awesome fishing , Big bucktails trolled over the weed lines and Body bait's over 20 fow were the producers , I heard Pidgen is producing some big fish also , good luck and let us know how you do

Thanks for the info TrophyHunter. I'm not really a Muskie fisherman, but they are scattered around the lakes, and sometimes I manage to hook into one every once in a while. I only target them a couple of times a year. I'm gonna give Quinte a break till November, so I think I'll give Scugog a shot next weekend. I'll be throwing huge crankbaits, and bucktails, and hopefully hook into a Ski!!!

I also fished the pt Anne area on Saturday from 3:00pm till 7:00pm and got nothing, did not mark many fish. Seems the fish are not in the area yet. Not to many boats out there, will try again in a few weeks. Good luck boys.... Joe

Was up at Pigeon today, out on the water at dawn, beautiful day to be out today.... but... WAY too many boats. We caught quite a few Nice bass, but nothing else. There was pleasure craft running back and forth at high speed all day, so i think the fish were a bit spooked. Nice to try something different though, the BOQ has been "off" for quite a while. Not even resident fish are being caught.

This warm weather will screw things up i think. I am going to stick to the Kawarthas until the BOQ heats up.
