Fishing the North

Quinte looked like a bust on the weekend with the forecasted wind warnings so I loaded the 4-wheeler on the truck friday and headed north. Got to the camp late and tied up some roe bags for the morning.

I don't get up north as much as I would like to because of the salmon tournaments in the summer and Quinte all fall. I love the scenery and the solitude. Just me and the lake.

Even with the rain and wind it was a great weekend. I started using a new style hook a couple years ago and it has produced phenominal results. Hook up percentage is greatly increased. I went 30 for 32 on saturday using the KAMASAN B983 Wide Gap Specialist #8 hooks. Sunday I only fished 2 hours and went 5 for 5.

Biggest speckie on saturday. Got a couple a little bigger on Sunday but forgot the camera.

I'll hit a couple more favorite lakes if I get back early for the deer hunt.

PS Wind Gusts on Saturday at Point Petre were 104KPH - That would make some nice waves!!!!!!!

Also consider the Daiichi 1150, which is very similar to the Kamasan. You can't go wrong with either.

I have the 1150s in 3 different sizes and they are good, but I like the Kamasan 983s a lot better.

I usually fish the 1150 daiichi hooks but have been having awesome hook up percentage with the raven specialist hooks when floating roe bags ! I'll have to give the kamasans a try. What area of the north you fishing
