Howdy all, will be fishing the BoQ out of Picton in a few weeks and was wondering what coloured cranks are hot for the eyes. Will be trolling using planar boards.

Does anybody use the deep diving smithwick rogues? They seem to come in an array of interesting colours.

Thanks for any input.

Fredhead,

We'll also be out in the next few weeks fishing out of Picton.Suggest you use deep diving rogues or HJ's in either silver/black k or the clown colours.Firetiger might also be a good choice.

Tight lines

Ron

I've got some big fish on Smithwicks Deep Diving Rogues, I like the Blue/Chrome/Orange one about 125' back.

The previous replies all indicate the popular colours which work well.

I'd recommend some green/yellow, orange/yellow Rebel fasttracks too! :!:

Always work for me! :!:

But as you can see by the wide variety put forth. A bit of everything is the best way to go :!:

Goodluck :!:

The best colour is the one presented at the right depth. That said, the next best colour is bright/ metalic or mylar on sunny days and dark colours on cloudy days. The best all around colour is perch primarily because they are a predominate forage in almost all lakes. It is also a distinct and easily duplicated pattern in the artificial sense.

Remember, the wrong colour presented at the right depth will always outperform the right colour at the wrong depth.

Thanks Tom...
I was talking with a guy at the launch this summer in Bath and he told me "I would never catch a walleye using spoons...they may work on Erie but not here". So after catching a couple of walleye at 28ft on a crank off the downrigger I switched it out for a NK28 spoon...and manage a nice walleye.

Good luck and all the best on the PWT. It is always great to know we have a BoQ angler fishing the tour.
