hey guys i have posted a few tmes regarding my trip to to merlands park in a couple a weeks....oct 25-28, and i just wanted to know if you think the minnow bite will be on, or should i stick to trolling some minnow type baits or using uzick spinner and worm harness type rigs. JUst gettin a little excited..... i wanna know how to approach the fishing there as i have never been and i would love to catch some pike and some eyes........i also wanted to know where i could pick up some shiners along the way.... i'm coming from mississauga

I think you will be early for the jig bite. Ususally doesnt happen till the water is alot colder. It seems like some are having success along east aldophus reach by the gap. If it was me that is where I'd be. If you must with the minnows try calling the bait and tackle companies listed on this site. http://www.quintefishing.com/bait__tackle_stores.htm

I would be using stick-baits in Picton Bay at that time. The turnover should have occured and the fish will be scattered.

The spinner works well along the weed lines, but at this time of the year, they've moved out to feed. I would think that the Uzick is better earlier than late in the year.

That doesn't mean you couldn't try the Uzick on open water.
