I need a smaller boat because I haul it behind a small house trailer. Most I can use is a 15'. I fish Quinte 3-4 times a year, but mostly go up north where I can catch (and release) 50-60 walleye and pike a day. Thanks for the advice on the Legends. I've been looking at a new Lund 14WC DLX and it has live well, storage and flat bottom in boat. It should work well with a new honda 20 hp motor. I've got to buy the entire package as my old outfit burned completely. Tough to find a good used outfit and nearly imposible to find with a Honda. I'm firm on the Honda, as I bought a new one this last spring and used it quite a bit. Best engine I've ever had (or seen). I would take a Yamaha but they don't come in a 20 HP.

Can't say that I can argue your point on the Honda. As a matter of interest when I was fishing in South Carolina this past summer I got talking to some guys who follow the pro bass curcuit pretty close.

The big movement on that curcuit is to the big Honda 250 hp 4 stroke. Almost all the unsponsered guys have gone to it because it can save them between $100 and $200 in fuel cost per tournament.

Let me know where you're going north to catch 50-60 walleye a day, I'm sure I can drag the Princecraft up there for that kind of fishing.

Bassn51, that is wrong. If anyone told you this they are NOT following the pro circuit too closely .... big 4 strokes are NOT popular with the bass fishing community ... I know, I'm one of them. It all depends on your particular application, 4 strokes have their place but not where speed is important. Even on the PWT circuit you are still not seeing many 4 strokes in the high HP range.

I too wanted to buy an allunumium boat at first. I spend a lot of time on the great lakes, so in the end, I ended up getting a fibreglass boat with a deep V and wide beam.

I have a 17.3 foot seaswirl center consul with a 90HP 2 stroke. I love it. It handles the rough water and trailers easily.

Here she is on the water at Quinte last weekend with 3 200+lb guys moving around in her while she battles 65KM winds.

You're correct, speed is not one of the features of a 4 stroke. My old 15 hp Mariner was faster on my boat than the new 20 hp Honds. Didn't matter to me though, for all the good features (esp. gas milage) of the Honda. Those big boats make me envious on the rough days, but I'll just pull in if it gets too bad.
