Where are the walley?

Spent 11 hrs. east of the Glenora ferry yesterday and failed to boat a fish of anykind. :cry:

Where are these big walleye that the bay is famous for????

You just knew WalleyeWon needed to weigh in on this one!
It wasn't "my" fault as my boat wasn't in the water and back up north on the trailor.

Firstly...I feel your pain, spent 3 days last week and probably tripled your time comittement with little to show save and except a small one off a worm spinner set back 50ft and down 35ft on my downrigger right at the ferry. Nearly filled my floater suit when a 15+ sheepy decided to strike and pretend like a Walleye...fun to catch but agreed just not the same.

Good start by asking these guys...I get the impression they fish the Bay regularly and knowing where they are at or more importantly knowing where they are striking is battle#1. We may have been a bit early for the biggies and by all accounts it only starts to get better so next year I will be throwing on extra layers and coming down a month later.

Here's what I have learned looking through these threads:
Bait selection...don't be afraid to change it up to what works. I used Reef Runners and TD11's and what ever else Stacy at Pro Tackle recommended (and might I add "sold me")...thanks Stacey, at least I now have a sharp set of hooks in my box.
Speed...change that up too...I tried .8 to 2.5
Depth...I tried 20 to 50ft

Next time I will encorporate casting and jigging into shoreline and over shoals particularly at dark as I was out til midnight trolling anyways.

And when I do come back down you can be sure I will be glued to this board for day to day tid bits knowing if all else fails it will be off to Sobey's Shoal for the $17 a pound fillets.

On a more serious note ...don't give up, I'm not!

I know all there is to know about walleye fishing because landshark tought me its really quite easy, just ask him
Basically rule of thumb if you wanna catch a walleye you go with high hopes of catching a bass. few weeks back we went after sheepies and all we could get were pesky walleye

Ahh...I "do" know how to catch those sheepies and have pics to prove it...and also agee with Grizzly's approach. Although I failed to mention in my first post that I caught "two" Perch on my worm spinner attached to my downrigger and thought that was worthy of a pic!

All part of the excitement if nothing else.
