I have noticed that since i started filling my tackle box full of TD's, TDD's, Shad and X raps, the lips have been busting off of them. Most times they pull right out of the body of the lure cleanly. I have a total of 6 lures that have broke so far. Today i had an xRap's head come right off about 1cm from the head of it, clean break. That lip is molded into the bait as it is plastic.

If that doesn't do it, then the paint seems to come off the baits after a few fish.

Anyone else seen quality control issues with Rapala's in recent? I know i have owned many over the years, but since the newer lines came out, the quality has gone down considerably. I still have some Rapala's that are more than 10 years old that work, but can't seem to get them to last 2 weeks these days.

I have equivalent cotton cordell and live target baits and don't seem to have an issue.

Anyone else?

I haven't had any rapala problems. I keep having paint come off my Cotton Cordells though.

I haven't had any break lately but here is a pic of one that the bill pulled off in the net. (4 or 5 yrs ago)

Hi, I have been having very good results with the shallow shad rap,but as others have reported the bill on these seems to be a weak link. I think that Rapala knows that this a problem as I have sent back 5 broken shad raps and they have replaced them without any questions asked. I have found my own way of keeping them from coming off by appling super glue around the bill right of the box, since doing this I have not had any more break offs. You would think Rapala could figure this out with all of their engineering support!
