I got my 6 point buck at 7:40 am Monday morning. I had my 12 ga raised on aim at a nice Doe for about 3 minutes she made it to 40 yards away over a wheat field just b-4 I made my mind up to take her I saw the 6 pointer step out of the bush with his nose down following the Doe. I held my new H&R semi equiped with a rifled barrel a first for me I always used my duck gun with slugs until this year I put a 1.25 by 6 power scope on it it shoots zeros at 100 yards. I pulled the triger it was over deer down.

If your not shooting with a rifled barrel get one it's amassing I hit bulls eyes at 150 yards. Good luck in filling your freezer with venison.

Our gang of 8 at echo lake has 5 guys 3 gals and ended up with 3 doe tags, so it was guys hunting horns and ladies take your choice. Monday 4 deer, 2 does by 2 gals and myself and Cecil a spike buck each. Today Cecil and Andrea took 4 pointers.

Lots of meat for the freezer, so its hunting for wallhangers for the rest of the season. I will post pics end of this week.

Good luck, shoot straight and stay safe.

Hunted Wednesday saw one deer from 300+ yards away going across a marsh. Big mature buck but moving too fast and too far away to even think of a shot. We got out Saturday and envited some guys over fom another camp who wern't seeing any. We decided to fill our final doe tag and I sent the visitors back with some meat, a nice doe.

We have one tag left but we're done. That being said, as I have that tag I forsee one or two more days in the treestand with the bow or muzzleloader, waiting for Mr. Big. Until then, are the eyes' biting? About time I got out again.

Good luck in week two guys.

Congrats on the deer so far guys!
I've been hearing a pile of shooting over the Wooler swamp area the last 20 minutes after I get home from work and been wanting to get out and play too. Great to see you guys out having fun.

Recieved a text from my son's buddy this morning sayin he shot a monster! I naturally enquired if it was a monster squirrel. His reply was a monster buck!! I asked for him to send me a pic because tyler has been known to pull a prank or two on me. Sure enough the text goes again and there is tyler with a pic of the big buck he shot. Quickly followed by a call from his dad asking for assistance in getting the brute out with my 4 wheeler. I quickly woke my son as he was going to school today instead of hunting. This is tyler's first year deer hunting as he is 15. The chance to share in this moment with tyler, his dad and my son cody will be a memory to last a lifetime. From the gutting to the loading Tyler was a champ. As luck would have it they had no big buck ticket from Quinte Outdoors. On the scales the buck went 236 lbs with a beauty 12 point rack. The buck had a bullet groove in the right beam along with a sliced ear where someone had tried to poach it with a rifle. Ear was healed over and the groove had been worn a bit from the buck rubbing. Bases were full of bark from him rubbing. I told poor tyler he may hunt a lifetime and never shoot one this big again. If I can figure out how to post a pic I will
