Hello fellow hunters.
Just winding down a combined Moose, Deer, and bird hunt to a very remote part of
Ontario. Was wondering if someone might define possession for me? As the hunting
regulations state the daily limit for ruffed grouse is a total of 5 birds. The possession
total is 15 birds. As I was away hunting for 10 days, am I allowed to travel home in my
vehicle with a total possession limit of 15 birds, or 1 days limit of 5 birds?
Not clear on this I brought back 5 birds.
Thanks guys Donn

Yes, you can come home with 15 birds. Just for simplicity and to show the any curious conservation officer that you're responsible and thinking ahead I'd suggest bagging birds in groups of daily possession.

When I go away to hunt waterfowl for a few days I clean the birds (leaving a wing attached as per Migratory Bird Regulations) and put them into a dated freezer bag with the species in that bag.

For example: November 18, 2011 -3 mallards, 1 black duck, 2 northern pintail. In a seperate bag November 19, 2011 - 5 Mallards, 1 redhead

If you are travelling with another hunter simply add your full name and licence number to each bag. It will speed things up and show the CO that you are being as responsible as possible.

Thank you Winston.
Great advice and suggestions.
Now I am comfortable with regulations on possession.
