Aadil I'm was like you! I have fished Quinte for well over thirty years and haven't spent 4 hours of that time in a hut. Always found some excuse not to have one, no sled/atv, too heavy, always a pain moving it with changing ice or it was froze in. Just bundled up with a extra layer and suffered through it and said to hell with a hut too much grief.
HOWEVER, I am now the owner of a fine atv and modern huts are light, easy to pull/setup and can be relocated in a few minutes. So now I am beginning to think like Fred, getting older, get colder faster, always spending bigger bucks to buy warmer clothing ( my old stuff keeps shrinking for some reason ), more modern technology, finders, camera, more tackle/rods, big heavy auger, the atv now takes care of hauling all that, I am no longer wringing wet when I finally get to where I want to be. That's what always killed me, sweating to get to fish always froze you off the ice faster. I still am debating on a hut for the season, guess it will depend on how much time I get on the ice, but it will be insulated if I do get one. So a smaller heater or even a propane lantern may heat it. Even with the hut I'd likely spend more time fishing outside of it than in it. Wind not the cold is the only killer to sitting on a pail. As in the old summer scenario it's not the heat it's the humidity.
