Went out to fish on Tuesday with Laker John from the Adolphustown Ferry Launch- Saw RoughtRiders' truck there but never saaw him until 1700 when he came ashore. Looks like he was east of the ferry.
But I digress.
We scouted the ferry area east to Keith Shoal and back along the south shore by the MNR and didn't see any fish. Motored over by Q4 and trolled from there to Thompsons, not marking many fish at all.
We fished the Big Willow flat spot, Ken's Mountain and met 'Big Blue' from this board who were marking a lot of fish in the deeper water near Thompsons. We trolled over that BIG deep hole at Thompsons and there a LOT of fish there but their mouths were tight.
Motored to Picton Bay for a look see, saw some fish but saw some big schools of bait fish right in the middle of the bay. Good sign to attract big walleyes.
Left and headed to ferry, saw the charters and a couple of boats working the Q4 area, decided we had better have a look. Tons of fish showing.
Trolled the silver/blue/orange Power Dive but nothing, didn't feel it was right, changed to the Firetiger and let out enough line to hit the 30'+ level with braided line. Trolled about 50 yards and 'Fish ON' landed this beauty.
Set the lines again and about 15 mins later had another hit.
All the boats left after our second fish, the water flattened out and was as calm and a summer morning. The fish appeared to be moving following the bait fish that we could see.
Called it a day 1730, a long day but the fish at the end of the day made up for the exploring we did.
Sure looks like the bite was on the weekend - some incredible numbers.
I agree with Targa and double check the digital scale with a spring scale. and both these fish were the same on both scales. Just my .02.
Looking forward to the Nov Get to Gether - Bring all your fish tales
