I walked out off the marina in Port Perry on Monday there were 3 guys fishing took a look at a couple of spare holes there was 3'' of good ice
I AM NOT SAYING ITS SAFE JUST STATING WHAT I SAW "ENOUGH ICE IS OF A PERSONAL COMFORT LEVEL I MYSELF WILL FISH ON 2'' OTHERS NOT UNTIL 6"

Good to hear. You'd think with this cold snap for a few days it may be good to go. Think I'll take a drive up Saturday and punch a few holes and check it out.

Thanks for the updates.

I have a buddy that lives on washburn and 2 days ago there was open water infront of his place, you just haveto be careful and spud your way out there since the ice is different thickness where ever you go. Be very careful and good luck if you go out tomorrow morning.

You can walk off stephenson point rd, thats the road you turn off island rd to goreskis but instead of turning right to goreskis, just keep on going straight and the road bents to the left and you cant miss it. You'll see people parked on the side of the road. You can also walk off goreskis, they charge 10 bucks to park in the parking lot. Another spot is spring rd, its like second or third left off island rd and its just down the road. You won't see the lake but walk the snowmoblie trail and it takes you to the lake. Its only 2 min walk onto the ice.

Got out this morning, but it was way too windy to set up the portable. Drilled a hole and there was 6" of ice. 5 black and 1 white. Only seen about 4 groups of people out. Saw a few sleds and 4 wheelers. Never did fish, so I drove around checking the spots you mentioned above. Will be out next weekend for sure.

Thanks for the info.

I took a drive down there on opener, and you can't park on the road. No parking signs everywhere. The gates for the marina were open, so I'm assuming there is someone there. Maybe give them a call, they might let you park inside. I launch my boat there all the time in the summer, for $10. Let us know if find anything out.

Bring a buddy and drop him and your gear off at the ice. Parking is at the top of the hill on the south side of the road in a plowed section of field. Or farther up the road towards simcoe street beyond the signs.

Well the old man and I ventured out off of West Shore Marina. Parking is as said up over the hill... no big deal. We were out about 300 yds from shore. 9" of ice measured. pretty grey. just a few dinks. the old fella had an eye hanging around at the end of the evening but nothing happened. Anyways lots of huts out there. Good luck and stay safe

On saturday afternoon I went on the other side of the lake, up near view lake in the river and we got 6 eyes, 1 over slot, 1 under slot and 4 right in the slot and we also got couple crappies as well. There huts, quads and snowmoblies are out there, we found 5-8 inches of ice where we were.

Good to hear!!! Isn't that area usually last to freeze, or sketchy ice other than around Washburn Island?? Must be high current area???
