There are alot of these "charts" out there - alot of guys are confused on ice thickness (you know how us fisherman exaggerate), but, 4 inches of safe ice can be misleading. To put it in perspective: my IPhone is 4 inches. Regardless if you can pound your spud through, use common sense and be careful.

I'll be fishing tomorrow on "safe" ice - it may be for myself, others may prefer to be more cautious. That's a good thing. And just to clarify, I respect the ice and would never jeopardize my safety.

Be safe, everyone - it's coming quickly.

If there's only 1.5" after the cold we had last night and today, I don't think there will be 4" by tomorrow. And if there's not, highly unlikely by the weekend. +4 Friday and Saturday.

Just stopped by potters. there was 2 huts out there. I didn't check ice thickness, had 2 sleeping kids in the car. Guy in parking lot said the guys out there said there was 6" of ice. Don't know if i believe that.

sorry to say but i read his 2.5 inch mark and it wasnt. actual measure was 1.5 inchs. i want on the bay real bad. so bad im afaid of doing something stupid but thanks to the wife{she keeps me sane} i am checking first fishing if at all second. wish guys would stop guessing and look and measure and look and look and look. the bay is more dangerous than some people think it seems. sorry but 6 inchs is CRAP and i dont think it should be said on here until its true just my opinion sorry :x :?:

It might have been me, I stopped at potters around 10 this morning and talked with Punchinholes (Cody) and 2 other fellows asked them about the ice, what the bite was like and had a long discussion about the QWL. I was driving a blue GMC with a cap on it.
