Superdad, in an earlier post of yours you mentioned you were fishing lead
core line in combination with your planer boards.

Are you running that lead core direct to your bait?

Look forward to hearing from you

Jimbo

In response to your question,I'm not using lead core line.

Roughrider is using lead core and doing well. I'm using Braided line and in-line boards doing as well as I can.

Sorry,couldn't answer your question

Which ain't very well, is it?! Huh?! Is it?! What a crappy fishing season so far! With the exception of Neil's killer window on Hallowe'en night, and the guys who nailed a bunch way east just before the east winds started, there ain't been much happening so far. This board has been dead compared to other years - nothin' but crickets - although admittedly it is still early in the season. I hope it's a function of weather more than anything.

What's the surface water temperature out there anyway? They really don't turn on til it dips below 45F, and I'll take 34F as my all-time favourite temperature - just warm enough so your lines don't freeze up.

My dad and I bailed from trips this week due to crappy weather or winds or scheduling, but you can bet we'll be out mid-week next once the weather stabilizes. Roughrider told me he is heading out for an extended attack, and gave me his cell phone number since he's away from his computer. I'll bug him next week before we head out.

Good luck to you lot this weekend! SOMEONE catch some bloody fish, fer cryin' out loud.

Sheesh.

I believe Roughrider is using four color on a penn ....he has had a excellent year so far ..boating over 70 walleyes this year, including 16 Sunday morning before the wind blew them of the water 8O :? , I have had my best year so far ...and it's early, but the wind realy messes up the weekends....looking forward to this weekend, spending time on the water with roughrider...and for the get together at Merlands, it 's going to be a blast :D

Jimbo,
Not sure if it is still out there but I did an article in the Ontario Out Of Doors Spring Fishing annual with Luigi DeRose on Lead core. If you can find the issue it should give you everything you need.

Don't tye direct to the core.......use a leader of either Mono or Braid, your choice. Most will choose mono given it obsorbs some of the shock from the no stretch core.

Most of the guys on the bay will also be using segmented Lead core, 3 or 4 colours for open water trolling. Consult percision trolling for details on sink rate.

I love catching fiah on core, you will too.

Thanks boyz, much appreciated, I will try to look that article up on the net.
Sounds very interesting. I do not have a line counter, just my good old
Penn level wind, so the colour code really helps a lot.

Can't wait to give it a shot in 2 weeks, I am drooling with envy, wish I was closer to the b.o.q
