Anybody been out yet?? I'm going out tomorrow. I checked a few spots last weekend, and there was 4-6" Should be at least the same if not more after them few cold days and nights earlier this week. I know it's mild now, but hopefully it won't have too much effect on the ice. I think I'll wait a bit before I hit the Bay. I'll post something, if there's anything worth posting.

I am thinking about going out tomorrow or Sunday. I am curious to know how much ice is out there as well. Where are you launching from?

Gooduck...

I'm thinking of going out of Goreski's, or at the end of Island Road. Not sure yet. I'VE "HEARD" THERE IS 6" OF ICE AT GORESKI'S!!!!!!!! As I mentioned earlier, I checked last weekend and found 4-6" I saw sleds and ATV's out there. I'm sure it's fine for walking, but I'm still going to check. Call the local tackle shops in Port Perry, and they should give you a rough idea about ice conditions.

I was out on the opener, 4 inches at Goreski s then. fishing not nearly as good as I have experienced in the past, we only iced perch and a few crappie. Looks like might have to there again since the bay may not be safe.

Just got back from Scugog, went out of spring rd, just south of goreskis and there was 5" of black ice and 1" of white ice on top. I got 2 eyes and couple crappies. I was told that between washburn island and ball pt that there was open water there couple days ago because they have the locks open in Lindsay so its creating some current and that the ice in that general area is 6" one spot, 3" the next. So just be real careful if your fishing the river and around washburn island.

I was out on the opener from Spring rd as well with a partner. He got 2 nice walleye, 1 in slot, 1 over the slot. I played with my new ice 45 and got a few perch. Find weeds and you have weeds, find the edge and you found fish. I was planning on BOQ tomorrow but I guess the BOG will have to do since mother nature hates ice fishing so much.

Go down spring road until the road bends to the right and you will see parking on the left off the road.

Just ame back (Sat) there is 8" of black ice where I was. ONly saw 5 machines running across the lake and about 30 guys out there. Just South of Goresky's.
4 Perch and 1 muskie about 3' long maybe 5 lbs.

Couple of guys on machines came by and all they had caught were 3 perch, 1 smallmouth, and a rock bass.
Good ice tough fishing.

Going to try again tomorrow. Maybe in the pm instead of the am.

If you can't park at the bottom, where the snowmoblie trail is, then you can park on the side of the road, just watch out for no parking signs. You will see where people parked as soon as you turn onto the street. I'll be going out of spring rd this evening to try my luck again. Couple buddies fished goreskis this morning and got nothing. The fish are there, I can see them on the ice-55, but there just not hitting.

Went out today also off Spring Rd. Fished from 2-6 p.m and nothing to show for it. 7" inches of good ice. From what I heard from other people, sounded like a slow day. No fish, but finally got to try out some of my new gear.

Thanks for the info guys!!!!!

Just got home from Scugog. Not sure what the big fuss is all about. There is more ice today then there was on opener. It was a little soft on top for the afternoon but I wasnt getting wet. On the way in it was pretty tough walking since everything froze up and its glare ice.

Anyways I travelled light and moved around alot. Made it right out past the red bouy at one point where I got my first musky (4 lb) of the season on a gold Darter. Moved back in closer as it started getting late in the afternoon and picked off a few dink perch then got my second musky (6 lb) of the season on gold/silver williams with a minnow head. I'm still searching for my first walleye of the season and I have minnows in my laundry tub so I'm going back out in the morning early.

Local guy on another forum telling everyone it's not safe yet he drove his quad around, but stayed close to shore, pretty sure he just likes to see his name in EVERY post. Supposedly it's also in the local paper, on the news and the cops all saying stay off it's not safe. There are permanent huts everywhere and the rentals are all out as well. I didn't come across any ice under 5 inches thick with 4 of that crystal clear solid ice.
