I went out on thursday right at 3pm, and it was open water for 4-5 ft away from shore. Theres 3 " of pack ice which was really weak. I went out another 3 metres and its 3" of hard, but so so ice. It was still fracturing when i was stomping lightly (I'm 230lbs). I went a bit further and it was 2", so i turned back. There was a red ESKIMO pop up there at the 3" of ice. They said they were getting perch at 10FOW. They put thier screw anchors in dispite the thin ice. I've done some pretty dumb things, but they went further than i would EVER.

Might be a while for potters. Lots of people showed up when i did to check the ice.

When I went out to say hi they said the screw anchors in the ice would make the ice stronger :-)
