Drop shotting isn't only for finesse. Try switching to heavier tackle and weights.

Someone asked about this set up and heavy matteded grass. Thanks for the great question about punching with a drop shot. It works best in deeper weed flats. The great thing is that you can use a cheaper, big lead weight without hurting the action of the bait. Texas Rig set ups often force the fish's mouth open on the hook set but not with this rig. When the fish eats, all they get is hook.
