For you techies out there a new precison guide app will be released shortly. I was working with Mark Romanack at a trade show this wknd and he was showing and telling me how this new app works. I did not ask about a cost but Im sure it wont be as much as the paper book. With the new APP once you buy it any new updates will be added almost immediately.

Now if you are old school and like to have those charts, pictures and numbers in front of you, it will NOT be published again due to the high costs involved. The copies that are out there will be the only ones that you will be able to buy.

Great info Bob.

Thank you very much for sharing.

I was actually thinking today if a Precision trolling app was in the works. Very cool news. I will probably pick up an extra book as I like to have them in the office to show people etc. Can't wait to see the app.

They will be using the Iphone and Droid systems, not sure about a BB app. The app is almost like a slot type machine where you spin the wheels to determine your line out and lure depth or you can look at the numbers chart. No info just yet but they said they are about "1 month" away from launching.

I have both of the Precision Trolling books and can't find any good info for depths when using either lead core or snap weights with deep diving cranks. Just says diving crankbaits will run deeper. Fine, but how much deeper? Tried to email Mark at email address listed in book but it comes back undelivered. Would be nice to know what snap weight will get a reefrunner down 50 feet, or how much lead core with a TDD11 to get to 50 feet (as an example).

drop a 2 ounce snap weight 100' down on a 200' lead with a reef runner and you'll be at 50' of water, at a 2mph speed. (or damn close)

start slowing down more, and she'll drop further. that would be with a 30lbs braid, 8 diameter line.

i fish a lot of shallow beach water for browns and have noticed many of their dipsy curves are off.....but then again, it's all speed dependant....

Leadcore is extremely speed sensitive so that will be your biggest factor. What lure you have on is negligible. A spoon with 10 colours will be essentially the same as a TD11 with 10 colours. 10 colours at walleye speeds will be about 50' down. Easy to remember is 5' per colour at walleye speeds. Remember this isn't law but a good starting point.

Why wait for the app when all you have to do is scan your own copy to PDF and use it in iBooks, now my hard copy stays safe at home :-)
