Given the lack of cooperation of mother nature, a group of us need some suggestions for an alternate to our annual BOQ hard water fish. If you have any suggestions where we can safely fish around the Belleville/Kingston area, it would be greatly appreciated. We would like to target walleye, but at this point we would be happy to drop a line for any in-season species. To further complicate things, we would prefer accomodations nearby, but at this point we welcome any thoughts.
Thanks in advance.

Read all the ice reports , There is ice at different locations all over the bay, you just have to keep up with the changes , Wolf lake in westport north of Kingston has good ice and a good population of Walleye as does a number of lakes , Check the MNR lists of lakes and you can find what you are looking for , good luck and good fishing

Just a heads up on Wolfe Lake, I was out there on Saturday and it was still open in the middle of the lake. There was good ice at the launch though (about 6 - 8 inches - 5 black ice with some white ice on top) on Westport Road but as we walked up the shoreline along the road (maybe a kilometer or less from the launch) we found some pretty sketchy ice and managed to spud through with ease. So if you go to Wolfe Lake stick to the bay near the launch and spud spud spud!

Another alternative would be the depot lakes if Walleye is what you're after but I can't speak to accommodations in the area. I was on fourth depot on the 7th and there was a solid 6 - 8 inches over the entire lake (again though, spud and check yourself to be sure as we have had a few warm spells since I was last out).

I hope that helps

Good luck and be safe.
Andrew

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully we will have a good selection on BOQ in a couple weeks, and if not, we can hit a couple smaller bodies of water. As usual, you folks have been very helpful. Have a safe and productive hardwater season!

Stewy,

If your talking about a couple weeks from now, you should be fine. Just go ahead with your plans. There are alot of safe spot right now.

If your worried, maybe you should be looking at booking a guide. They know where the best ice and best fish locations are.
