I live close by the Depot Lakes system and have used them for sportfishing and live release.
I don't eat fish caught from these lakes as per the handbook of surveys put out by the ministry on what's safe and what's not pertaining to pollution levels of the Depots as well as other lakes, they're not as clean as you may think.
Fish from this system have been rated with a caution and intake to be at a minimum, and also suggests that pregnant women should not ingest at all, especially the ling and walleye as they are a long lived species.
As for sport, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Depots Lakes can be a hoot when their on!

Awwww Lar,

Now you're making me all worried !!! I just want to catch one ling or more, keep a little one , and try it out.If I catch a walleye that's eater size , I'll try that too. Guess I won't keep a limit even if I was fortunate enough to catch one. Thanks for the heads up anyway.

Which lake do you prefer and do you chum holes ??

Very sorry there my fellow rodbender, seems like a downer I know but the surveys don't lie.
I used to chum but only after a good period of time trying to hook up without.
My fav method and most productive was using a kids small candy paper bag with a stone in it and putting my dead minnows in it and squishing them up, pokeing some some holes in the bag and sending to the bottom...the stone is natural and the bag harmlessly degrades....great way to dispose of the dead baits too!
As far as which of the Depots, I rather liked Davies hole (4th) off Parham, or 3rd if they wern't on there.
Enjoy a meal or two, I don't think you'll glow in the dark if only a couple once in a while,LOL>
