I am wondering what this heavy rain, and now cold snap will do to the ice conditions? Will it improve things? I don't have a lot of experience with this stuff, so I wondered what the more experienced guys know about this?
Was thinking of going out tomorrow after work, to Potter's.
Thanks guys,

in my oppinion it should improve it almost like brand new ice but you need to treat it the exact same way just cause its 3 inches of black where you stand dont mean its 3 inches 20 feet away some areas opened up this means its brand new ice but ill take 3 inches of clear black ice when its -15 out anyday over snow coverd crappy 4 inch ice when its +2.......... people wont repeort ice because its just too iffy...... we have already seen disputes on ice reports and thats because people dont all walk the same path its not like a road out there with lines to follow trust no reports trust your self your eyes your spud

Yeah, I agree with Grizz...I would say there now there would be an inch or two of good ice on top of an inch of crappy ice that's on top of five inches of good ice. At least where I fish on Big Island...depending on the snow, I might be skating out too my spot this weekend!

Thanks guys. Based on the front yard at my house, all of the snow that was saturated with water is now solid black ice, with no air bubbles. I guess two days of really good cold weather might make some new ice! I hope! I appears that things are going to warm up again next week.
