Anyone been on Oak Lake this week? Wondering whether it is far enough north to have avoided all of the BS this week. was thinking about going there Saturday morning, but don't want to become a statistic if you know what I mean! Anyone who knows ice conditions there, a report would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

There is pike in Oak lake. Its actually the only thing i have caught out of there, and quite a few of them in summer.

I had a cottage on Oak Lake, (Stirling), for a very many years and yes, the pike are numerous summer and winter.
Summer bass can be pretty big surprisingly enough. It wasn't really fished to hard all the years I was there, (except by me and one other bass nut, live released too!), only really fished by cottagers. The ministry kept records of the fish specs in there, check with them for the info on the latest surveys, it may still hold some big surprises.

To locate one of the deepest parts of the lake, go to the first canteen or beach on the south side and go out about 2oo ft. on your 10 oclock angle. If your using electronoics notice the nice weed bed that surrounds the drop...always found the crappies there for a lot of winter fishing going back a great many years. :)
