Quinte Fishing

Hello everyone! I am relatively new to the site and will be headed up to Picton this weekend for some late fall fishing. I was planning on doing some night fishing in Picton Bay and harbour and just wanted to hear any success stories or get any tips on successful approaches, locations, lures etc.

Last year in October, I nailed a 28" walleye in the harbour on a clown-coloured floating Rapala minnow. Wanted to hear if more of the same can be expected from this trip.

I am also trolling with an electric motor and wasn't sure if I needed to use a planer board for either daytime or night time fishing.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hey Big Swede, welcome aboard!

Well if your trolling the harbour you'll be fine longlining I would guess. That's all I used to do for years at Picton and always did fairly well. The boards can be helpful but, I'm thinking you might find it crowded if you stay too close in the Bay area.

Your electric motor should provide just the right speed as well. As far as baits, the Clown Rapala should be fine as well but, Rebel fast tracks have proven successful in the area as well. If you venture out to a little deeper water, some deep diving lures might be the order of the day. Mann's +20's or more and tail dancers, Wallie Minnows as well.
