I'm hearing they went on at point Anne and tried fishing by Minnie Blakey shoal (red bouy). But it's coming to me from a friend of a friend. I was out on the north side of the narrows west on point Anne and it went from 4 inches to 2 inches 20 ft away and I was back in the bay.

Good buddies of mine, both got out ok, got turned around goin to trident from point anne and hit where it opens up frequently, east of the red buoy. Lessons learned for sure, if it can happen to these guys it can happen to anyone so be careful out there boys!

I know guys want go where the are and that's usually where current is . Come on guys, there's plenty of safe ice out there...they might not hit as hard but at least you can come back in to your family...

Was in that area this weekend. Baycrest Lodge. Dave had a couple of spots circled on a map of dangerous ice or open water. Open water was opposite shore of Sprague Road. Some spots right on shore were circled with thin ice. Seems strange, we had 10' of ice consistent over a big area off Sprague Road. Guess you never know.

This is why if you don't know the ice don't go ripping around in the dark. And make other people risk there lives having to rescue you. Take you spud even if your on good ice this year.

Starting to make sense now...they went out to red buoy and went east? That's bad news even in the coldest years. Oh man, here we go...all I'm going to hear over the next week is "the ice isnt safe don't go!"

To my knoweledge they are both local boys one forsure knows the ice and fishing quite well as he lives on that part of the bay, he was able to walk home
To get assistance, i think the guy driving didnt no
It as well and go turned around in the dark and ventured to far east. It goes to show you never trust the ice a 100% . We put
On around 4/5 km of walking sunday , id rather walk and check
The conditions myself before bringing
The machine up, for the peace of mind, even when there was already guys out all over on them.
