After getting word that the ice was "decent" in a couple of our go to spots, plans were promptly made for an emergency Quinte trip.

A couple of buds would head down Friday for the evening bite and I would join up with them at the crack of dawn the following morning and fish hardcore until Sunday eve.

Sounds good to me!

Lots of fish were marked during the usual peak times but there seemed to be more "lookers" than "takers".

But persistence pays off and we managed some nice eaters and a few good 'uns including Larryguy's 10lb+ hog and his bonus fish species!

pretty rare for sure but it's the second i've witnessed. i got one myself out at huffs about 12 yrs ago! the old fellas beside us were convinced it was a "whitey". "yep that's a whitey!" they kept telling me.

What an awesome weekend! I caught that Bow 5ft below my hole on a perch rod with 2lb floro, marked it on my flasher. On Saturday after the morning bite was over we had some very nice OPP visit us on the ice informing us that we had 2hrs to move our vehicle or face a possible fine or tow. They informed us that we could park along the main road at the top of the hill. I was sure where we had parked there was parking as per the sign. I just can't get my head around how in anybodys mind its safer for cars to parked up on the main road rather than Huffs Pt road. I'm not sure if this road is part of the town of Napanne or what county it belongs too but it seems like the wrong decission. Although there are many spots to fish in the BOQ the main draw for us to stay in Napanne is Huffs. I know by the time I leave Napanne I've left about $200 in town and I'm just one guy there for 2 nights 3 days. Maybe somebody should start a shuttle service from Napanne to Huffs. I'd be willing to pay to have myself and gear delievered right to the ice! You guys that leave in this area are so lucky to have such an awesome walleye factory!
P.S. Many of the ice reports from last week were very helpful in planning this trip as was the lady and gentleman at the Dew Drop & Perfect Vu! Of course we spudded our way out!

Congrats on the Gold HJ and that is a sweet bow Justin , The parking issue really does need to be addressed at a town council meeting , a lot of people coming from out of town spending a load of money on accommodations , minnows , food and other items are going to get discouraged if they are ticketed for parking on one of the few roads with access to the bay ,I don't understand why none of the locals that live in the area have not set up a pay parking area like Wagars on big island , When you look at the amount of guy's fishing Huff's/Hickory lane area on the weekends you could make some pretty good money, :D

ya at least the opp were friendly about the parking situation. in almost 20yrs fishing there that is the first time i have had any issue with parking. i guess the opp have no choice but to do something when they get complaints from home owners along huffs rd. those folks should put their heads together and start some pay parking in their yards! ka-ching!!!! $$$$

Hi, can someone let me know where Huff's point road and Hickory lane are? I'm coming from Ajax and don't know the area at all. Thanks!
