I think no matter which way you guys choose to go, the pegs will have to be drilled and frozen in and that will take the time to freeze. That's why I said about the day before. Unless there are serious ice screws out there. That and you will have to consider the bottom of the poles can't slide out. Same applies to any sized tent.
What might be better is one of those "tarp garages" that have a self standing frame. I have one that is just the roof part. I also have a large tarp that could be wrapped around the outside and close in two of the sides. Get a few more and you could close it all in. It takes about half an hour to put up by myself. Most of that is figuring out which freakin' pole goes into which
It could stay with less of a peg as it is self standing and the legs wouldn't slide out as easy. It would be noisy if it's windy with the tarps flapping and certainly not as nice to be inside as the tent, but it is lighter and easier to put up. You're also welcome to use that as well if you choose.

Not sure if you can't rent one for a day that comes with the proper sides. Might be worth calling a rental place? Just another option for you guys to consider.

Personally, I'd be partial to the 32 footer with the woodstove just a blazing. Feet up relaxing in a lounge chair with the hole beside me jigging every now and then trading hunting stories and shooting the b.s. with the guys. Now that would be my kind of ice fishing.

Either way, let me know if you would like to borrow either the tent or garage.

Dave

if we all decide to go the garage route another member (Fish Hunter) has volunteered a large tarp to pair up with the garage idea, I also like the idea of the two smaller tents, quick to setup and take down.

Drill a hole with the auger. Shove a 18 inch length of 2X4 down the hole with a length of poly line tied to the center of the 2X4. Position the 2X4 cross ways under the ice and you have the anchor.

That would do it, but chilly on the arm getting it out. If you also tied another piece of rope to one end long enough to stay op top, you could slide the 2x4 back with a stick and use the second rope to pull it back up. Anchors away.

Eskimo ice anchors would hold no issues, they dig deep and are very very solid!

As I stated before Bro, we have the 10x10 tent of the wife's that could be used if need be. The only thing with it is it only has two walls to it, so it would only be good for half the wind blockage. We also have display tables that I could bring. Let me know what you think.

Guilty as charged, your honour.
LOL

I don't mean to jump in on your thread and demean what your doing.

Wrong thread but count me in for a donation. I can do lure package, cash for the cops for kids, or boat rental voucher. Let me know what you prefer.

Scott

Just to let everyone know where we stand with the tent(s) situation. Zoomer2 will be bring one and Nuggy1 will be bringing 2. They will be there first thing Saturday morning. Will be setup prior to 7am so everyone with food and tables and get them inside and we can all start fishing on time. We do however still need help with setup and getting them tied down. So far we have Zoomer, Nuggy, WalleyeWonder and myself confirmed. Please PM or e-mail me if you can get out early and lend a hand.

Thanks to all.
