Last year on Jan 7 Lake ontario had locked up to amherst island and around the ferry to amherst island and prince edward county usually have to break ice

Jan 7 2011 amherst island ferry even gave the ice fishing a go no action at all very seasonal spot in general



It reopened around March 31 because I recall casting for pike and ice fishing them on backlakes on the same day by April 2 2011 same day we had our last ice fishing trip here is a video where I go out on my first trip Apr 2 and at the end I come up to the last bit of floating ice all of the launches were still locked up at this point but i just had my tinny up on shore

This year has just been unbelievably warm looks like a winter of ice fishing backlakes
