Hello All,

Captinminnow, myself and two others in our merry band of ice fishermen will be making our 5th annual pilgrimage to the BOQ for a chance at monster walleye! We are as usual ... beyond excited! Hours are consumed in thoughts of what to do, what the walleye are doing, what to use, refine our plan for our primary spots, hole configurations etc ... etc... and this scene plays out year after year! What is different this year ... well firstly ... concerns (moreso than usual) will there be ice??? and will there be ice where we go to each year?? !! The next issue of concern is regarding recent parking enforcement at the access we depend on!!!

Can someone please confirm some details regarding this recent parking development ... 1) are there any legal parking spots at Huffs besides the ice (which is not an option for us as my wife would kill me if I sunk our truck) and 2) is there in fact a restriction on the main road which limits parking till after 7am.???! I can handle the extra walk down from the road (less than ideal... but a chance at a PB walleye makes a man do superhuman things!) but this after 7am thing could seriously compromise some of the best angling hours of our trip!!!

If in fact this access is essentially closed for all intents and purposes through OPP parking enforcement (I was frankly astonished that the OPP deployed officers to walk out onto the ice to inform anglers of the parking restrictions!!!Is this not a municipal bylaw issue???) then we are severely screwed!

OR .... perhaps .... just maybe ???? !!!!!!!! .... pay someone to park at their house and access north of Huff's (east side) through their property! If you are that willing landowner PLEASE PM me ... we are courteous and quite as mice (except for the auger sound off in the distance). If the tickets are $40.00 plus the risk of towing ... we surely can scrape together $20.00 to park/day! If you know of a landowner in this area that wants to make stupid-easy money (legally) ... a finder's fee of $20.00 (if access is granted) is in your future too!

Thanks everyone for the much needed clarifications and consideration of my proposition!

If the parking ban is on again next year... I'm seriously considering it!

I just called Napanee OPP and had a discussion about the parking issue. The road is covered by a city parking bylaw. They received complaints so OPP has to respond. The opp guy said yes there is a parking restriction before 7am on county rd 9 (thats the road that you take to get to huffs road) BUT they said they WILL NOT give out tickets to anyone parking there before 7am. The officier said they recognize that a little give and take is needed so the wont ticket anyone parking on county rd 9 before 7am . To be clear. NO parking on Huffs Road, Yes parking on county rd 9

Thanks very much Dan! That clears the parking issue up for me! ... now what can you do about making more ice??? Just so you know ... I prefer 5 inches of clear black ice and no snow cover because I love to watch the gold leviathans rise from the deep!

FishinMagician! I appreciate the offer and still considering it ... big question for an "out-of-towner" ... where exactly is Pete's Point ... sorry I am not to familiar with the local names beyond where we usually go and access!

Please PM me if you get a chance and we can chat further!

Thanks
