Thanks for all the info prior to arriving at BOQ. Sorry for the late post, but just found time. Arrived at Merland Park on Thurs. afternoon and found out Kevin went hunting. Talked to guys who were going back to the Chicago area after 5 days of fishing. They told us a few spots to try. With only a couple of hours to try before dark, we ran east for 6.8 miles to fish the area by the red and white lighthouse. Marked a lot of fish but no takers. Planned an early trip on Fri.so headed back to Merlands. Buddies showed up late Thurs. night so we fished the same area where we marked fish on Thurs. at daybreak on Fri. morning. Caught 4 nice walleyes with my personal best of 11.9lbs.All were returned to fight another day. Dr.Death, Perch, were the only baits they hit. Our buddies caught 4 or 5 also. Not sure but they used Dr Death and Blueberry Muffin Reef Runner from 150 back to 220 back of the boards. All fish were caught in the morning and no luck in the evening. On Sat. ran East to the factory with the two tall stacks with white tips. It was a little bumpy but not too bad. Caught two walleyes there with my buddy catching his personal best of 11.6 lbs.It came off a large dipsie with a chartreuse jointed long A bomber back 125ft on a 3 setting. Our buddies caught 4 nice ones in the same area. Went in for lunch and returned at 2:30 in the afternoon and fishes the south shore 1.8miles east of the red and white lighthouse. We caught 3 more, with two on the same bomber and dipsie on the same setting. Another 11.6 pounder and also a 10.5 pounder. We were looking for a Quinte monster over 13, but we had a great time. Couldn't fish on Sun. so we left real early for the 7 hour drive home to Michigan. Our friends fished on Sun. down by the same factory and caught 6 between 8 and 11 pounds on fruit loops Deep reefrunners 180 ft back. All the fish we caught were returned it good condition to fight again. We will be back. A great fishery. They said Fri. and Sat. was slow but maybe next trip we will get into them like I know can happen there.

Great report Tom O, glad to see you had some success. We had very good mornings as well. We too had a little trouble with the afternoon bite. Buddies of mine who switched to darker baits for the afternoon did very well.

Have to keep one step ahead of these fish :!:

As with Tom, didn't have time to post until today. Wall-I-Guy, we met briefly outside of the Tip-of-the-Bay Motel Friday night. We asked you about how you liked your new 75 on the back of your starcraft.

Basically, what Tom said above summed everything up. It seemed like we fished a different pattern everyday, nothing was very consistent from day to day. To me that tells me fish are on the move. Everbdody caught a personal best up there, although they were only 11 lber's. It was a great feeling releasing all the fish in great health. We are heading back up during the get together time, hopefully we don't have to run very far next time.

I love to hear it when guys get their personal best! Congrats! Makes a feller know he's doin' some good by writing, eh?

You could be waiting a long time for a 13-pounder, cuz I've only caught a few that big. Others seem to catch more and bigger fish, though. {sigh} I have given away two fifteen-pounders, though!

Someone on the board mentioned a 16- or 17-pounder recently - I'd love to see some pix of THAT brute.

Passthepitonspete,
It was great catching my personal best last weekend at BOQ, but it was even better to take a quick picture and let her swim away to give someone else a big thrill. Dr. Death caught her and without the info I received before I arrived at BOQ, I might not have done as well as we did.The article you wrote a few weeks ago is a great guideline for all oldtimers as well as us newcomers who fish BOQ. Thanks again.
