born and raised on the south end of Cayuga lake ..... Ithaca.......... sons are 5th generation pretty well right in the middle of the fingerlakes I guess .

be carefull of the ice it is getting real dangerous around shermins pt and they are going to be losing more ice this week and there is a big presure crack right beside the boat launch and looks like open water real soon.

i think it was above zero for the past 36 houres if im not mistaken this means ice that was 5 inches is pretty well crap until it gets below zero for 24 hours.. 4 inches of soft ice means two whacks with th spud and yer thru one thing i know for sure is there isnt a man around thats gone thru the ice that didnt say "I thought it was safe" ...... i do believe thats something your suposed to know BEFORE you get on the ice!

thanks for the input grizz i think husky_jerk is confused.its not good out there right now i was at shermins for the weekend and checked ice at several locations and its dangerous right now i had 6 inches to 4 inches within a few feet and spud going through pretty easy in some spots and it worse by now.

you may have lost some today but the rest of the week looks pretty solid. tues low -9, wed low -13, thur low -5, fri low -13, sat low -16, sun low -13, warmest high for the remainder of the week +1. sorry but it doesn't seem too confusing to me..
