Well what should have been a 3 day outing was unfortunately turned into a 2 day trip. Today was just WILD on the water so we didn't risk it. We trailered to the Ferry to see if we could sneak in a last minute fish, no luck!

Our 2 day we went 3 for 5. Well thankfully we got out Friday for about 6 hours, we managed 2 on and 2 misses. I nailed this first beauty after about 2 hours.
Came in at a nice 9.5 lbs

Wasn't much after that, Pat gets into this 6 pounder

This photo wasn't very good but, at least we got one picture of it, as we were taking the photo, one of the rods doubles over like wild, so, overboard goes the fish so we could pay attention to the fish on' however, that would turn out to be one of our misses.

That would be it for day one. We threw a lot of different baits at 'em. The ones to work for us were the Rapala Tail Dancers.

Day 2 was a little quieter for us. I managed only this 10lb beauty!

That would be it for the day. We didn't manage to get out for any night fishing unfortunately. The entertainment was just too good to hit the boats at night :!:

Thanks again Pat, it was a blast, and to the guys, it was great we all got together.

Friends of ours did quite well using one particular bait (Pm me if you're interested).

Fishing was definately tough WIG. A good indicator of that is watching the charter boats screaming up and down the reach looking for the fish. After a brief radio converstation we had 3 charters close on our location. Most I talked to had the same scattered results with boated fish.

Although the fishing was slow, BigO did manage to land one real beauty! 14.5 pounds!

We rotated through a variety of baits, but everyone at the hotel agreed that the manns 20 took the majority of the fish. Trolling about 1.7-2.1 mph seemed to be the best speed and the inline boards produce more fish then the flat lines. Best spots for us was east of the lighthouse in the chop. We took wind cover a couple of times on the south shore, but the bite was best in the chop.

Great looking eyes WIG. Hope to see ya again soon.

Markus

Superdad, we stopped by around 4pm on Saturday, but everyone was out fishing. By fire pit time we didn't have any drivers fit for the road.

Hope to see at the next gathering. :P

it sounds like the fishing has really died off the last couple of weeks, and is much slower then last year all around. i plan on going down for two or three days next week for maybe the last time for the fall and then put the boat into storage. hopefully the fish will make a comeback, i'll report on the results.

I believe so. It's the white one about 3-4 miles east of the ferry. The bite seemed to be the best there, although a good pal of mine did great right at the ferry and went 5/7! Ya never know.
