Quinte Fishing

I did not want to highjack the other thread. But I found this guy in Prince Edward County road kill at the bottom of Mountainview hill heading towards Belleville. A friend of mine got it mounted after he got all the proper paper work for it from the ministry. I also hunt in Prince Edward County and I have numerous trail cam pics of a Fisher or two all season long. In different locations so they are all over.

So whats the deal with these, do you need a trappers license to hunt them?

I have a trappers licence and for the county there is no quota for them. They are a fur bearing animal so you can not shoot them. Further up north of Belleville there is a quota but it is very small. The population is growing that is for sure and they can be hard on a turkey flock once they know where they roost. I watched in the fall this year while bow hunting deer a flock of Turkey's get busted off the roost about 200 yards away from me , and I wondered what was going on and on my way out to the fourwheeler I saw a Fisher running the edge of the woods right where the Turkeys were roosted. I am sure the Fisher had something to do with them being pushed off the roost. They can climb a tree just like a black squirel.

I have heard stories of them taking cats and small dogs tied up outside. They look like they are eating machines and from what they have been eating out of our table scrap bucket by our trail cam they eat anything and everthing. With limited hunting on them I can see these becoming a real nuisance.
