You posted "you can remove up to 40% of the mature fish from a system like Quinte every year and it will replenish itself".

I'm not trying to start an argument. I would just appreciate knowing whether your post is your opinion or whether it is a statement of scientific fact (reference??). Its my understanding that those big eyes still produce lots of eggs each year, just not as efficiently as during their prime (5 to 10 years of age). Apparently, eggs from those older big eyes aren't fertilized as successfully either. However, there's something to be said for trying to protect that gene pool.
