Well I am gonna throw in my .02 here as well. I have had a few different brands/styles of nets and I think I have used most of the other ones on the market.(Ranger, Frabill, Beckman, Lucky Strike) I agree with some of the other posters...rubber nets are a bit tip heavy and yes they are a bit shallow in the basket. They do stretch when you put a heavy fish in them but I have had more than one fish slip right back out. The other PVC/rubberized coated nets are really nice and some have flat bottoms which helps hold the fish. Both of these kinds are fantastic when it comes to tangles and hooks. In the winter the last thing fingers want to do is untangle hooks from a net.

As previously stated it just depends on what you are fishing for and what will make you happy. If you have a huge salmon / musky net it probably wont be the best thing to throw in a tinny. Just like a smaller hoop on your net won't work very well when the big walleye move in the bay in the fall. - I knocked my wifes PB off with the net last November and she hasn't let me forget about it!

I am personally switching nets this year and going with the EGO S2 slider net. These things are - slick! I have had a chance to play with them a bit and I have been VERY impressed! They are coming out with a new larger hoop and they have a few choices for net styles so you can custom design your net for the fishing you will be doing that day.- Boat, Kayak, Shore, Trout or Walleye. You can get different handle lengths and hoop sizes as well. In addition to the net hoops you can also put on a boat hook, gaff or a slider knife. They don't take up much room in the boat and best of all they FLOAT! Here is a link- http://www.egos2slider.com
