With all the happenings going on this weekend, I decided to spend some time down my end of the lake. We launched out of Hamilton, a nice change. We fished East of 50pt, towards Forans.

I tried deeper water first, but didn't find much to my likings, so I came in tight to the "green zone". Weather was gorgeous. Cold and grey in the morning until the sun came out, which brought beautiful blue skies and warm(er) temps.

Our best baits were the jointed long A bomber and jointed challenger minnow, both in a gold pattern.

Long lines and boards did the trick, fooling both kings and browns. Early in the morning the kings were active. As the day progressed, and the sun warmed that green water, the browns really became active. Nothing too big, but beautiful none the less. The cold water and shallow depths are causing the kings to spend some time displaying their acrobatic skills. Tons of fun watching a mean king launch out of 8' of water, 30' from shore.

Water temps still below 50 degrees, and the crowds were minimal in tight. Nice seeing Shane Thombs kicking butt along the shoreline as well.

Here's some of my favourite pics taken.

Good Going Steve. Some real nice fish there and the weather looked to be in your favor. I was going to head out today as the wind was supposed to be out of the N.W. but it was all S.E out of wellington and a tad bit ruff.... Thanks for the report...Fred

Great report Steve, and beautiful looking fish. I'm going to have to make an effort to get to your end of the lake one of these springs. Thanks for sharing.

You sure have that shallow water program dialed in dude. Congrats on another great day. Why does it always blow East on Monday?
