Are you only allowed to weigh in one walleye per ticket? Or can you upgrade your fish? So if you weigh in a 10 pounder Saturday can I weigh in a 12 pounder Sunday to upgrade?

Thanks,

yup, you can upgrade as many time's as you want. You used to be able to win more then one prize, dont know if that is still the case, have had my name a few times on the board at the same time, but never there come sunday afternoon.

You are allowed to upgrade your fish.It says on your ticket that all MNR rules apply, what I can't figure out is by MNR regs you are only allowed to retain one fish over 24.8 in.but you are allowed to weigh in 3 or 4 fish over 24.8 in.

This has come up on here before. If you wanted to get real technical the regs say that you are you are only allowed one fish over 24.8" so that would mean you are not allowed to upgrade on the same day. That said, how on earth would anyone get caught? I suppose if the MNR had someone reporting to them each and every fish over 24.8 weighed in, along with the time and anglers name then they might be able to catch it. I'm pretty sure they dont do this. Play it safe and just cull as you go until the fishing is done then go weigh your fish once

I guess weighing in more than one fish over 24.8 is legal due to the fact that they are being released. Don't the reg's say that you can only keep one over 24.8? Seeing as you are not keeping them I don't think you are doing anything wrong. However I don't think that you could weigh in more than one at a time, as that would mean that you have more than 1 in your possession at a time.

This is just my thinking, but it makes sense to me.

I believe it says daily catch limit include all fish that are retained for any period of time and not IMMEDIATELY released.Like Dan says it has been brought up before, and probably will be again.

hmm, interesting. i normaly fish the friday (midnight) and saturday nights.
end of the fish we weight in what we have, if we think we may have some thing that would make the board.
There was lots of talk about this last year. its rule number 5 this year...
5. A fish that has been transported across land in a vehicle will not qualify for entry.

Each weigh station will be doing a hidden weight. We (weigh stations) won't know what the weight is. HQ will notify each weigh station at 4:01pm on Sunday and tell us who won the hidden weight at our stations. I do know, the weight will be between 4-6lbs. Each weigh station will have a prize of around $300.00. You can enter your fish at multiple weigh in stations, if you transport by water, for the hidden weight prize.

If you want to fish by the rules, you can enter 1 over 24.8 on Saturday and 1 over 24.8 on Sunday and you can NOT cull as you go.

Chances of getting caught culling on board would be slim, but chances of getting caught entering too fish over 24.8 on the same day by somebody if they check is 100% as they register each fish. Might not get a fine from MNR but it should get you booted from the derby for breaking MNR rules.

Doesn't matter anyway, the big one is in somebody's bathtub.

Also get ready to be asked if you have your Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) ... everyone needs proof of competency/card on the boat
- http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety/de ... or-360.htm

If you don't have it and get in an accident ... guess what, insurance is void. Feel free to check with your insurance provider. I went to review my insurance with Allstate and I was surprised they were asking for it.

Ha, why do you say that, have people been caught cheating in the past?

Its local folk lore. Don't plant till after the full moon and someone always has a big fish in storage for the fishing derby .

I think it comes from the human response that if somebody won that wasn't me they must have been cheating.
