Quinte Fishing

Hello, Im coming up to BOQ in mid Sept. never been there before. Coming from the Cleve. Oh. area. I fish lake Erie at least once a week from March till the Nov. night bite is over. I just want a change of pace for a week and a little vac. I will be staying in Waupoos on the lake side. I have a fully rigged 23ft Princecraft and all the tackle i will ever need....I just need some help on what/where to use and go for some eyes, smallmouth and pike. This will be mostly a catch / release trip, have a freezer full of Erie eyes at home...LOL. Thanks for any help

Depending on timing, u may be able to find some big lake eyes on the way by the waupoos area. Usually sept is solid for big girls migrating towards boq and theyres lots of shoals near waupoos.

I'm not right guy for salmon, pretty new to it. I believe they make their spawning run in sept and can be had near wellington. Al aka trannyman1 or scott aka westlakewillows would be the guys to weigh in on that one.

Still need a little more help on methods used
for walleye around Adelphus and Hay bay area in sept. What baits to troll and such. Thanks

If your trolling adolphus, use boards and cranks such as reef runners, rapala td's, husky jerks.

Run baits at 1.3-2 mph

Aim for outer parts of reach towards the gap as depending on water temp the migration may be just starting.

Thats what i wanted to hear...pretty much the same methods we use on Erie in the spring and fall. I'm assuming when you say the "reach and gap" you are talking about the area to the east near Pleasant Pt. And also, how about the area of Prince Edward Bay? Im willing to trailer the boat around if need be, looks like there are plenty of ramps. Thanks

yes the gap is between pleasant pt and amherst island. Any shoals near there with the right depths could very well be great for fishing then. all depends on water temps. lake's really warm right now so it needs to cool out lots to start things happening. if the wind is right i would try prince edward bay or big bar shoal near nut island (south side amherst island). gets pretty bumpy out there though if its anything but a north wind unless its light winds.

South Bay has some huge pike and these day I wouldn't be surprised that you might hit the odd musky.

As for salmon, you could try south of Main Duck Islands. But the numbers that time of the season would be minimal.

Thanks for the help guys, I was out on Erie yesterday, finished by noon with a 3 man limit (18). 2 over 10lbs. Need a change of pace, cant wait to cast for some pike. Thanks again

You know fishings good when 10 pounders get boring lol.

Never boring... It has been a very good year on Erie. Weather has been good and the lake has been fairly calm all summer. Been trolling since the end of Feb. just want to change it up a bit. Do you guys jig at all for the eyes in mid. Sept.?
