Good day all, I am just looking to put in a new cranking battery as well as some deep cycles for trolling etc. Looking for some feedback on some favorites.

Thanks
Rob

well, interstate is what I use.

i run them 12 months a year.

however, if you run your batteries in the deep cold, you will generally only get 2 years out of them (seems to be the pattern over the last 6-7 years or so).

if you don't run them in the cold, you should get 4 solid seasons out of them prior to them "starting" to go....

Most info I have read basically says that all the low-mid priced batteries are generally equal in performance. If you go to the high end Optima that is where you start to see a difference, for 3-4X cost.

So, go with WalMart of Costco brands or go high end. No point in going middle of the road for price.

Key is to take care of them, charge them every time you use them etc and you'll get good life out of the cheapies too.

i bought 31 series interstates at Belleville sport and lawn for 150 just before bass season started. best price I found for 31 series. also bought a 31 series deka agm for cranking battery. awesome battery but very costly

no, it was plus taxes. Brian and the guys at Belleville Sport and Lawn will stand behind their product aswell. i felt pretty confident with my purchase there anyway.

I run dual Optima D31M's on the trolling motor and yellow top Optima for crank. no problems with these, but $$$$. A good onboard charger will go a long way as well with maintenance of them. I run a dualPro Sportsman 3 bank for both trollers and the crank, and keep them plugged in all the time.

I switched to Optimas this year. Looking forward to the fall to see how much longer I can get out of them. Running Nautilus before I would get 3 hours tops during our fall trip. Anyone that run Optimas, can you tell me if you see longer life in the cool weather?

Hopefully they last a while, they were certainly expensive!

Grateful - I ran mine until the end of November without any issues, all day trolling. I didn't see any reduction in capacity, they are 2 years old. I ran them in parallel last year, but serially this year due to 12v vs 24v, so that might change things. I know they are expensive, but i don't think i would be caught dead on the water without good quality ones... literally

I run a Sears Die Hard PM-1, I have used Interstate, Deka, Everstart and Optima for my cranking battery and I usually get 1-2 years trouble free on my cranking battery. The PM-1 is consistently running 4 years plus. If you aren't running multiple graphs, side scan etc. and pumps all the time then any of the other should be fine. If you run an Optimax you need to have the minimum MCA to start that motor...

Only problem is they aren't available in Canada lol, I grabbed mine in Watertown...

I run optima D31 series but from what I have been reading I have to agree with Colin
The Optimas are great but will be switching to Sears when I need new batteries!!!!

The Sears PM-1 is a tank and a great choice for its specs and its warranty (3 year non-declining!!!) . The only downside to the warranty is that you have to drive to Watertown to have it replaced...

We have used the following batteries for the past two seasons without issue. The cranking battery is comparable to the PM-1, its 1/2 the price, but the warranty is not nearly as good. The guy (sry don't know his name) that works at the Kingston location is a huge fisherman and he knows his stuff ! He will hook you up right.
